may 2020 weekend
Salisbury & New Forest
Fri 1st May to Sun 3rd May

Yes, it's that time of year again and the Farcycles are off on their first cycling trip of the new decade. We've gone away for a long weekend in May for the last few years and it has been a great opportunity to explore some new routes and enjoy some easy-paced cycling and the good company of your fellow Farcyclists.

This year we will be heading to Salisbury to give ourselves a chance to explore the New Forest and/or the Cranborne Chase AONB. For those who haven't been before, the format is that we pick a campsite as a base so that those who have motorhomes or tents can camp if they wish. For those who prefer a more solid roof over their heads, there is also the opportunity to stay in one of several local BnBs near the campsite.

The dates are Fri 1st May to Sun 3rd May and the running order for the weekend will look something like this:

Friday
For those who want to, leisurely cycle to Salisbury (distance about 55 miles) with a stop for lunch, taking in the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the way.
Alternatively, drive down on Friday afternoon and meet us on Friday evening.
On Friday evening, we'll be enjoying some food and refreshments, either around the campfire or in Salisbury.

Saturday
Easy-paced ride of about 50 miles. Exact route to be decided but probably venturing into the New Forest. The ride will be at a gentle, sociable pace, with coffee stops and lunch. On Saturday evening we'll be retiring to a pub or restaurant in Salisbury for dinner.

Sunday
Either ride back to Faringdon, again with a lunch stop, or drive back.

If you will be cycle camping, there should be the opportunity to get someone to take your gear down in their motorhome or car.

The campsite we'll be staying at is the Salisbury Camping And Caravanning Club Site. You don't have to be a Caravan Club member to book, it's just cheaper if you are a member.

There are also several BnBs in the area if you prefer not to camp.
These are all with a short cycle ride of the campsite.

To lessen the workload for those of us organising the weekend, we're going to ask people to book the campsite or their BnBs themselves. But before we go ahead we'd like to get an idea of numbers and who prefers which accommodation option.

So, this is the really important bit.   Can you please let us know if you would like to come

The easiest way to do this is by putting your details down on this spreadsheet here:       May weekend booking
