For Blue and Red rides, three Farcycle Volunteers will be on hand for the rides. One to keep the Blue group together and provide encouragement and guidance to the riders and one each to keep the * and ** Red riders together so that more relaxed cyclists also have an enjoyable, sociable experience. One and two star Red riders must remain with their respective leaders if they wish to stay part of the group. Three star riders will manage their own pace but should allow the ** group to catch up for a brief drink stop after 15 km and at the banana break. This is to allow riders to switch groups if they so desire. The ** group should similarly wait at these intervals for the * group. In all cases the group leaders will set the pace and may vary the average speed as they see fit.
If on any day there are more than 6 riders in a specific group, it should be split appropriately to facilitate overtaking. This helps maintain mutual respect with motorists and maximise safety.
Cyclists should arrive at the meeting point at the designated time knowing which group they intend to ride in for the day. This will facilitate setting off as promptly as possible.
If there are no riders wishing to take part in the * ride, the leader will be free to ride in whichever group she or he prefers.
If a cyclist has a mechanical issue, the entire group will wait with that person until the problem is resolved. This may be relaxed slightly in the case of the *** group provided that at least one volunteer is prepared to stop to help/provide moral support
