.My six-year-old loves riding her bike. But she hasn’t been with us on the roads before because I worried about getting her out with traffic. She really enjoyed the ride. It was a nice family morning out and felt like another thing that we can now do as a family, which we hadn’t really explored before. Following that my son aged 13 is now riding every Saturday (where possible) with the Farcycles group. He really enjoys it and everyone in the group is really supportive of him.
For someone who hasn’t been on a bike for a very long time and who is nervous about cycling on the roads due to traffic, I found the Sunday bike ride a really good opportunity to do something with the family on a Sunday. The ride was just the right pace and the leaders were really supportive especially of my youngest who was riding on a bike without any gears. This is not something that we would have explored on our own as a family, so doing it in the group felt safe and the pace meant that no one was worrying about keeping up. We are looking forward to doing it again when it starts in the spring.
